Selling crafts online at Zibbet is easy thanks to their user friendly interface. Zibbet pre-launched in the summer of 2008. It is a site for handcrafters to market their creations to the general public, and they provide ongoing training to their sellers on how to increase their sales online. Other categories include fine art, vintage items, and crafting supplies.
Zibbet was born out of the founders' desires to create an alternative to Ebay, where they saw nice, handmade items sell for way less than what they were worth. Planning started in 2007, and they officially launched in February of 2009.
There is a lively community at this site, with forums, groups, chat, blogs, and photo sharing. That's a lot of options for interacting with the community in terms of exchanging ideas, discussing business matters, and all around social networking.
One interesting promotional feature here is the showroom. Sellers get to choose a favorite item that gets displayed randomly to buyers on the showroom page.
Currently, there are two types of accounts available at zibbet: basic and premium.
- Basic Accounts get to list up to 50 items in their store, with no commissions, ever. They also feature a number of site promotion tools, customer support, your own shop, site address, and no advertising on listings, all for free!
- Premium Accounts get unlimited listings and no commissions on sales. Premium sellers also enjoy a number of unique features in addition to what the basic accounts get: more styling control in layouts, widgets from your blog or twitter, multiple quantity listings, widget and video for stores, and display of favorite feedback messages. Pricing for premium accounts is $9.95/month. You also save money if you prepay $79 for a year in advance.
Please visit their website for a full explanation for both types of accounts, and to watch a video presentation of the selling process.
